Our oak wood comes, as is common in Europe, from sustainable forestry. Oak wood is weather-resistant, durable, very hard, yet flexible and elastic.
Oak wood is divided into sapwood and heartwood: The sapwood is gray-white and is mainly used as firewood. The heartwood has a rich yellow-brown color, is extremely strong and load-bearing, and remains stable and long-lasting outdoors—even underwater.
The high tannin content in oak causes the wood to darken slightly over time when exposed to the elements. Contact with metal parts may lead to discoloration due to the tannins.
