Chestnut wood is highly durable due to its high tannin content. It is dense and hard, with a raw density of 0.62 g/cm³. With minimal shrinkage and good natural durability of the heartwood, it provides long-lasting use even under direct weather exposure and ground contact – up to 10 years of lifespan.
